Title: acquitted of false 498a
Post by: romit.gupta on March 14, 2014, 12:16:50 AM
Two years back, on this day, I was acquitted of false 498a. The court in its judgment, later, wrote, "The prosecution has miserably failed to prove the case."

How conv.?? "miserably failed", when it was a false case totally. That not only incarcerated me without any crime, but also kidnapped my child, threatened financial ruin for me, demanded ransom from me.

But what a journey it had been. It was heartening to break some myths, show to myself and others that the false cases can be fought. That not only that, people bringing false charges can themselves be on receiving end. That the child can be restored to the parent who can take better care of his welfare.

On personal front too. From unknown face in the crowd to Shonee Bhai, Shonee Bhaiya and Shonee Ji, the journey has been exhilarating. I am happy to note that I have been able to help ease pain of some people at least.

On this day once again, I re-dedicate myself to fight against misuse of laws with greater vigor.
