The court deferred to Parliament to change the law, citing that the LGBTQ+ community constituted a &#8220;minuscule minority.&#8221; This regressive judgment was a devastating blow, pushing LGBTQ+ individuals back into the shadows of criminality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fight continued with renewed vigor. In 2018, in the landmark case of <em>Navtej Singh Johar v. Union of India<\/em>, a five-judge constitutional bench of the Supreme Court unanimously struck down Section 377 insofar as it criminalized consensual sexual acts between adults.
