As a result, governments and legal systems across the world are facing new challenges in regulating this technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-understanding-deepfakes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Understanding_Deepfakes\"><\/span>Understanding Deepfakes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The word &#8220;deepfake&#8221; comes from the combination of &#8220;deep learning&#8221; and &#8220;fake&#8221;. Deepfakes are created using AI systems that learn from large amounts of data such as photographs, videos, and voice recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-common-types-of-deepfakes\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Common_Types_of_Deepfakes\"><\/span>Common Types of Deepfakes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Face-swapped videos<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI-generated voice recordings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fake images<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manipulated political speeches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Non-consensual intimate content<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These creations often appear so realistic that ordinary people may find it difficult to identify them as fake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-legal-framework-governing-deepfakes-in-india\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legal_Framework_Governing_Deepfakes_in_India\"><\/span>Legal Framework Governing Deepfakes in India<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">India does not currently have a specific law that directly regulates deepfakes.
