Besides these reproduction assistance programmes, simultaneously there are pregnancy desist programmes for population control: births averted by contraception to births prevented by abortion by MTP for contraceptive failures. Ethics and morals are a casualty; the medical profession has become amoral. Both qualified and unqualified quacks abound.
