It was a time filled with a mix of hope and apprehension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then, she began suffering from headaches and severe pain in the upper abdomen. Upon examination, her blood pressure was found to be elevated. A urine test revealed proteinuria, and her ankles were swollen due to fluid retention. The doctor diagnosed her with pre-eclampsia. Everything had been going so well\u2014what had happened so suddenly? Why did this occur? She had followed the doctor&#8217;s instructions to the letter; why, then, did this happen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-doctor-explains-pre-eclampsia\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Doctor_Explains_Pre-Eclampsia\"><\/span>Doctor Explains Pre-Eclampsia<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The doctor explained that this condition affects about 10 per cent of pregnant women and expressed hope that controlling the blood pressure would normalise the situation. When the woman asked about the cause, the doctor explained that it occurs in women whose immune systems fail to become fully tolerant of the paternal genes (inherited from the father) present in the foetus. She also mentioned that the mother&#8217;s blood vessels could be damaged in reaction to the baby&#8217;s distinct genetic elements, potentially harming the mother&#8217;s kidneys and liver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She noted that for most women, a successful delivery is possible by managing the high blood pressure associated with pre-eclampsia. However, in some cases, the mother&#8217;s immune system becomes uncontrolled and aggressive. Severe liver damage can lead to a life-threatening situation, or pre-eclampsia can escalate into full-blown eclampsia\u2014characterised by dangerous seizures\u2014all primarily driven by the mother&#8217;s intolerant immune system. Hadn&#8217;t they examined her properly? She was such a senior doctor; surely, if she had examined her thoroughly, she would have detected it? Was she perhaps spouting these incomprehensible, complex theories just to cover up her own mistake? The immune system that naturally evolves to protect this autonomy is based on genes (genetic chromosomes). The body&#8217;s defence system recognises and assimilates its own unique genetic structure. No two individuals share the same genetic makeup, except for monozygotic (identical) twins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The body&#8217;s defence mechanism recognises this unique identity and develops an immune system committed to protecting it. The immune system prevents elements with a genetic structure different from its own from entering the body; if such elements do manage to enter, it destroys and expels them. This protective process is known as immunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If genetic material foreign to an individual&#8217;s own is to be introduced into their body, their immune system must first be persuaded, suppressed, or influenced to accept it. This is an eternal law of nature. An embryo receives half of its chromosomes from the father. These foreign chromosomes are not naturally accepted by the mother&#8217;s defence system. It is essential that, prior to the embryo&#8217;s arrival, the mother&#8217;s defence system be made aware of, sensitised to, and adapted to these foreign elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-role-of-sexual-intercourse-in-immune-adaptation\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Role_of_Sexual_Intercourse_in_Immune_Adaptation\"><\/span>Role of Sexual Intercourse in Immune Adaptation<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During reproduction, the maternal immune system&#8217;s sensitivity to the paternal genes within the embryo develops naturally through regular sexual intercourse. Absorbed through the vaginal tract, these elements in seminal plasma and millions of disintegrated sperm facilitate immune modulation. This is a continuous process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Studies have shown that the incidence of pre-eclampsia is significantly lower in women who engage in long-term sexual relations with the same partner. Conversely, the condition is more common among women who regularly use condoms during intercourse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Research indicates that natural intercourse without condoms plays a crucial role in developing the immune system&#8217;s sensitivity to the child&#8217;s foreign genetic material. This has been confirmed through biological experiments. Women who experience recurrent spontaneous miscarriages or pre-eclampsia benefit from the administration of an immune-modulating factor found in semen, known as \u2018TGF-beta\u2019.
