The Malkhana Officer (also known as the Malkhana-in-Charge or Malkhana Head Constable\u2014MHC) is the custodian of all seized property and case exhibits kept in a police station. The Malkhana is the secure storage room where police preserve case property, evidence, valuables, arms, ammunition, vehicles, narcotic drugs, and other articles connected with criminal investigations. These items remain in the Malkhana until they are produced before a court, sent for forensic examination, returned to the rightful owner, or disposed of according to law. The Malkhana Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of criminal investigations by ensuring that every article remains safe, properly documented, and free from tampering.<\/p>
