<\/span>Why is it Called Court Marriage?<\/span><\/h2>\n

In earlier times, marriage registration offices in Mumbai and Thane were located within or near court buildings. For example, the Bombay Small Causes Court in Bandra had its registration office on the ground floor. Because citizens visited the court premises to register their marriages, the process came to be popularly known as\u00a0court marriage registration<\/em>\u2014for instance, Bandra Court Marriage Registration.<\/p>
