I am Sakshi Aggarwal, a final year law student of Faculty of Law, Delhi University. I did my graduation in B.com (Hons.) from College of Vocational Studies and decided to pursue law after that. The primary reason that I decided to become a lawyer was firstly that it is a safe sanctuary but also the fact that as a lawyer you get to help people and also get paid for it has always attracted me.

Secondly, as it said that "knowledge is power" is something that you duly witness in this profession. The law provides you with the tools to enforce the rights of yours and that of others and also protect yourself from undue exploitation sometimes even at the hands of the protectors itself.

In my last internship with Senior Advocate Mr. Jayant Mehta, I had the privilege of witnessing Sir arguing against the decision in N.N. Global before the seven-judge Supreme Court Bench and also some other matters relating to trademark and Arbitration listed before the Hon'ble Supreme and High Court and got a glimpse of our great judicial system.

And a month before that, in my internship with Alpha Legal Consultants, Adv. Varun Chugh, where I worked on a number of matters relating to civil, criminal, land acquisition and many more, I got to experience the intricate work that law is and how this is a profession where you are always a student, for the learning shall never end.

I also had the pleasure of interning in the Tis Hazari Court, where I got to witness how the judicial system applies equally to both the rich and mighty and also the poor and indigent. But at the same time, it was also clear that how our system is broken with tons of pending cases in the courts waiting to be disposed.

In my humble opinion, the need of the hour is better law enforcement at the ground level and also better Alternative Dispute Resolution system and Lok Adalats to reduce the pendency in courts and alleviate the suffering of the aggrieved.
