While the railway officials said that, approximately 24 trains were delayed due to poor visibility, ranging from 2-5 hours. The air quality turned severe again, as falling temperatures, high humidity and low wind speed allowed accumulation of pollutants.

Further, the Delhi-NCR region is expected to record its second-coldest December since 1901. The officials also stated it was on December 30, 2013, when Delhi's temperature was recorded at 2.4 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung and on December 11, 1996, the temperature was recorded at 2.3 degrees Celsius, It said.

It is likely to prevail in most pockets of north India in the next 1 days, the weather department warned.

Since 1992, the minimum temperature at Safdarjung Observatory was 2.4 degrees Celsius on December 30, 2013 and 2.3 degrees Celsius on Dec 11, 1996. The all-time record of low is zero degrees on December 27 in 1930.
