Subject: Urgent Request for Strong Action Against Bangladesh Following Disrespect to the Indian National Flag

Respected Sir,
As a proud citizen of India, I am writing to express my deep anguish and outrage over the recent appalling incidents in Bangladesh where our national flag was blatantly disrespected. Students from prominent Bangladeshi universities have been pictured stepping on the Indian national flag, deliberately placed at the gates of their institutions.

These disgraceful acts at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka University, and Noakhali Science and Technology University are not only shocking but also deeply hurtful to every self-respecting Indian.

The Indian national flag symbolizes the pride, unity, and sacrifices of our great nation. Such acts of desecration are not merely offensive but are a direct affront to the dignity and sovereignty of India. The images and videos of these acts, which have gone viral on social media, have caused widespread outrage among the Indian populace. Citizens across the nation are demanding swift and decisive action against these provocations.

Regrettably, no substantial measures appear to have been taken so far by the government, which has left All Indians feeling disappointed and unheard. As our Prime Minister, entrusted with safeguarding the honour and dignity of our nation, I urge you to take immediate and strong actions to address this matter.

In light of these incidents, I propose the following actions to be considered:

  • Diplomatic Protests: Summon the Bangladeshi High Commissioner to express India’s strong condemnation and demand an official apology for these disgraceful acts.
  • Sanctions on Essential Exports: Temporarily halt the export of critical supplies, including medical essentials, to Bangladesh as a demonstration of our discontent.
  • Review Bilateral Relations: Reassess our diplomatic and trade relations with Bangladesh until corrective measures are taken by their government to prevent such incidents in the future.
  • Public Assurance: Issue a public statement condemning these acts and assuring the citizens of India’s firm stance on protecting our national pride.

Sir, these incidents have not only insulted India but have also raised questions about the value and respect accorded to our nation by its neighbors. The time has come to send a clear message that such
acts of disrespect will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

I trust in your leadership and your unwavering commitment to upholding the honour of our great nation.

I sincerely hope that you will address this issue with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
Jai Hind!

Yours respectfully
Srimati Shanta Chhetri
Ex-MP Rajya Sabha
