Laws, Terms and Conditions relating to Women
With the passage of time, as the family institute developed, the scope of
women's work narrowed. While accepting the responsibilities of the family, the
value of the society was also lost. In the name of many customs and traditions,
Women have become Victims. Even in today's Modern Society, the Male – Dominated
Mentality is not found in accepting women as a Human Being, an essential element
of society.
From feticide to taking her life for money. Therefore, many laws and
regulations regarding women had to be made. Sati law was enacted before
independence. Later, many laws and regulations have been made for the
empowerment of women. Every man and women should know about it as a citizen of
India.
Some General Assumptions about Violence Against Women

Rapists are strangers.
Explanation: Many rape victims know their rapists as neighbours, relatives, family, or friends.

Rapes happen late at night.
Explanation: Most rapes take place at home. So, it can happen at any time of the day.

Women distract men by wearing revealing clothes and invite rape.
Explanation: A survey by a civil rights group found that rapes usually occur against rural women, tribal, and Dalit women. Their attire is never out of style. In the recent Baladapur Case, the girl was in school uniform but was still raped.

Women who go out at night are raped.
Explanation: Air hostesses, nurses, and doctors work night shifts.

Beating should be done in quarrel between husband and wife.
Explanation: It's not at all necessary to fight by beating. Often, women are beaten to such an extent that marks remain on their bodies.

Middle-class women are not beaten.
Explanation: Women from all walks of life are beaten. But there is a perception that only poor and working women are beaten.
Indian Penal Code:
The Indian Penal Code is a law that defines and punishes criminal acts committed by Indian citizens.
Following are some important sections related to crimes against women:

Private Defence – Sec. 96 to 100: Everyone is entitled to private defence of their own body & property.

Rape – Sec. 375 & 376: Sexual intercourse without the woman's consent.

Cruelty – Sec. 498A: Husband or his relatives subject such woman to cruelty.

Molestation – Sec. 354: For assaulting women with intent to molest.
Sec. 354A: Committing obscene depiction by stealth.
Sec. 354D: Pursuing a woman by stealth.
Overall, it's not a Women's fault to going out at night or Wearing Fashionable
Clothes. Or living in Toxic Relations. Sometimes, small mistakes become harmful.
The Recent Event of Calcutta Doctor Case and also, we already have a Nirbhaya
Case (2012). The girl/women must be aware and Every Girl or women should be
learning Private Defence.
