Changing Statement

Can the statement be changed after giving it to the police? Can additions be made to the statement later? If so, how?

police statement cannot be changed, yes additions can be done, an in case you wish to withdraw, your FIR you have to file in High Court for withdrawal of FIR

It can be shortened up if the criminal do some good things during his punishment.
