The criminal motive may or may not turn into criminal intention/mens rea in the same degree as criminal motive.

The criminal intention/mens rea may turn out to be only a small part of criminal motive.

For example, motive of murder may get converted into criminal intention of attempt to murder by sudden change in circumstances unfavorable to murder. The criminal motive is a mission of crime which may not succeed in its full design but only in part.

What succeeds in part is offence and immediate working mind behind such part success in actual offence is criminal intention mens rea

Motive is the reason behind the commission of the offense while Many criminal offenses are defined so as to require a particular level of intent. These two terms are very close to each other and there is a slight line between them.
