Court Marriage
« on: February 05, 2014, 08:37:14 PM »
Hi,

Me and my girl friend decided to get married, but unfortunately both our parents objected. We both are majors and are working. If at all we decide to get a registered marriage done, is there a provision for either of our parents to sue us on any legal grounds? I understand there is provision for court marriage, if so could u let us know the procedure?

Also, her parents are forcing her to get married without her consent. Is their a law which could come to aid her at this point? Please help.....

If the girl is above 18 and the boy above 21yrs of age, no one can object. Or force either one of you to marry against your wishes.....you are free to marry anyone u like

Thanks Arjun,

I would need one more clarification.
My girl friend's dad had lodged a police complaint against me stating that I had misbehaved with her and I had to apologize in writing that I would not disturb her in the future. This was what had happened when I initially confronted him and he was not ready to accept our relation. Could this be used against me in any possible way, legally?

Thanks once again.... :) :)
