Tenanted Property
« on: May 19, 2014, 01:38:33 AM »
Sir/Madam,
I am an 78yrs woman senior citizen whose landlord is refusing to change the name on the rent receipt which was in my father in laws name who died years ago and then later my husband too died. I have electricity bills in my name since 1970 and have paid rent till 2009 but the receipts are issued in my father in laws name. Then the landlord now wants Rs 5 lakhs to transfer the receipt in my name. My son is only interested in grabbing the property from me and troubles me for this. Please help to advise me on this matter.
thank you
mrs.joseph

File an application in court for the change in name in rent receipt, along with death certificate of your father in law. This will do.

regard your son's intent to grab the property wont be fruitful as par the latest supreme court rulings. Tell him to forget these trickery and help you

Thankyou very much Ms.Saika for your reply.I am grateful for your help.  will the procedure after filing in court for transfer drag  on for long and in which court in Mumbai should I file my application?
Pls also explain what the supreme court rulings state in brief as my son challenges me saying I don't have any rights without the name being in my father in laws name.
thankyou Ms.Saika.  God Bless you.
