Inheritance

Dear sir/Madam,
My husband has a factory in which the investment has been substantial. My father-in-law is a partner in a firm and it is going for sale shortly. Some investment that has been made by him in his firm and all of the investment in my husband's firm has come from the inheritance proceeds from the sale of my father-in-law's father's property.

My father-in-law thinks he will gift, atleast a major portion - if not all, of the proceeds to his daughter who is married, has a well-settled family, lives in the U.S. and has U.S. citizenship. He claims that since the investment in my husband's firm has already been more than he wanted it to be, he wants to gift these proceeds to her.

Throughout my husband's life, he has served his family, supported it through tough times as he could, lived a life of acute simplicity, suffered social ridicule and sacrificed his personality, career growth and till today, he remains unemployed(the factory cannot begin operations because of lack of additional capital) because his father would not allow him to work owing to a serious health issue with my mother-in-law.

Is there any way I/WE can stop this transfer of share in property to my husband's sister?

yours truly,
manisha
