Can there be a FRI case for not marrying someone?
« on: April 10, 2015, 01:22:29 PM »
As most Indian marriages, My marriage suppose to be an arrange one too. So when I was in India last month, a gentlemen approached us with an offer that a girl is 20 years old and is doing her B.Com 2nd year. She seemed pretty, I liked her and we had a small function (Only 4 people from my side, rest her entire family). There were photos taken.
Anyhow, then a few days later we found out that the girl is under 18 and will give her year 12 (10+2) exam this year (not the info we were told). So understandably I said no marry this girl.
Now my proposed future-in-laws (sasuraal) is threatening me with legal actions of I don't marry their daughter. Can there be such thing? (I live overseas, they are in India).
On a side note: we contacted them within after 'engagement' and even offered to pay for the expanses they occurred on the function. Now it has been a month and no proper reply from them but all threats.
I appreciate any help.

Oh thank you! A reply at last :)
No sir, forget about a physical relationship.....I never saw the girl before or after that 'engagement day'. She will turn 18 in July, Even tho we were not suppose to get married for another 2 years but I said no to marry her because that seemed an ethical thing to do.
