Privacy issues related to email/fb/Skype etc
« on: August 18, 2015, 01:30:28 AM »
Respected lawyers, I'm Dr.Ranjit Chandar Indian citizen currently abroad. I came to know by information technology act 2000 assessing someone email or fb or Skype etc is a crime and it's applicable even to spouse..  I have a threat to privacy of my corporate email account . I currently have misunderstanding with my wife and I guess it might end in divorce. She has send me an legal notice and while talking to her related to this I came to know she had assessed my email account on May of 2014. Which is actually not free email server it is corporate email id .. I know it is offensive but I don't have any reference for it. To my understanding even if it is wife if she has doubt on me she would have filed a police complaint to check my account.. Can lawyer help us to know me what weightage will be given to this privacy issues if I bring this to court.  Please provide me reference for the same...

As per your situation narrated by you is a premature stage of a dispute. You must change your password to your account and you can file a complaint before cyber crime branch for breach of your account by your wife. But keep in mind that until you have cogent prove of hacking or accessing your account by your wife without your approval, it will be a adverse effect on you.
