Divorce through Gurudwara
« on: January 09, 2016, 11:52:13 AM »
I have been separated from my husband for 6 years. I have filed domestic violence case against my husband. The court cases are still pending however I am recently seeking divorce by mutual consent in Gurudwara. I would like to know if Gurdwara has a right to mediate in divorce outside the court. Can Gurudwara provide a divorce certificate? Will this certificate be considered as a legal binding document? Does anyone have any template for Gurdwara Divorce Certificate which they can share with me, please?

If Gurudwara not able to provide a divorce certificate, what are the alternatives for a quick divorce?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Deepa

How can you expect to get mutual divorce quickly. You have to wait as per court diary. File a divorce case before District Court.

Thanks Adv.Amarnath,

Thanks for advise me. But my advocate advised me that, if I will file a divorce case than I will not able to claim lump sum amount. Is it true ?

divorce can be got only through the court and not by any other means.in case of mcd you need to workout a mou between you and your husband where he agrees to pay one time alimony or monthly maintenance
