Family maintenance payment - what is the current rule
« on: February 18, 2016, 02:47:22 AM »

I am 53 yrs old, male, living in chennai. My first marriage ended in a divorce and i have a 24 year old girl from that marriage and she lives with me now. From the second marriage, i have a 12 year old girl. My second wife has serious differences with me and she insults me everyday. All four of us live together in a house owned by me. I My health is bad currently. But my second wife tortures me regularly and i am unable to tolerate it. I have taken early retirement and i do not have any income. Currently the entire house expenses are borne only by me. To avoid the torture of my wife, i plan to go out of the house and take a rented house and live separately along with my elder daughter. I plan to allow my second wife to live in my own house. My rented house will cost me atleast Rs 20000/- per month. I will be unable to then pay for my second wife's monthly expenses. She already had cheated me of Rs 15 lakhs of my money, which she is having. As already informed,i do not have any income now. We have not filed for any divorce and have no such plans now. My question is - Am i supposed to pay for my second wife's monthly expenses too. What is the legal rule if i am unable to pay any money to her. As i have spend more than Rs 30,000/ Rs to lead my life in the rented house.......

if you are unable to pay what can you do.
surely the court will insist you pay something considering your wife is unemployed.
but if you cannot pay than court in extreme case send u to prison for a short period after that you are a free man.

but sending you to prison is highly unlikely court will only insist you to pay something thats all
