Due to marital problems my sister has separated from her husband. She is currently staying in her parental house. My brother-in-law has already applied for divorce. My brother-in-law had received jewelries as marriage dowry and he has returned those to the nearby Police Station. But, when my sister went to the police station to get back the jewelries, the police said that they need some notice from the court. My query is as below.
a) what is that notice from court which the Police is expecting.
b) How to get the document myself?

My sister has got a lawyer. She has already paid him lot of money, but still he his not helping her to get back her jewelry and he has been asking for more and more money. She is not earning and she is in lot of financial trouble and also taking care of her school going daughter. I would request anyone who knows the laws to help me with the answers for my above queries. Thanks.

you should file a petition in the court for return of jewellery. The court will grant orders for issue of jewellery to your sister. this will not take more than 2 days. not sure why your lawyer is delaying it.

In addition to above, it is totally court's discretion when to allow to take back jewelries from PC
