Airtel Atrocity
« on: March 20, 2016, 12:33:47 AM »
Hello, I was an airtel prepaid customer and I received a communication that there's a lucrative CUG offer exclusively for the company I work. I wrote to the email said in the communication ( and got confirmation that the offer exist and requested me to change my prepaid to postpaid. While converting my prepaid to postpaid in an airtel relationship center, the sales/service person there said the plan I request (CUG) is not available with them. They said that if I got a communication regarding this, I can take a random plan now and then change it to my desired plan later. So, I got a random postpaid plan and got the activation and all done. Now when I email to the same address (, first they said that the plan I requested is off the market (within 3 days!). After I said that I have proof about the offer being recent, they said they cannot activate the CUG plan because of the random plan I choose. They are saying there's no "Feasibility" to change from my current plan to the offered CUG. I have all the communication in my email and would like to know if I can take any legal action against Airtel for this. I only converted my prepaid to postpaid because of this and now they're saying the offer is not there or cannot activate the plan I requested. Please advice.

you should file a suit against airtel in the consumer court right away.
many service providers resort to such dubious means (offering CUG) and convert prepaid consumers to post paid and dump them thereafter.
also escalate to your cognizant team who is handling Airtel account . Since airtel made this offer exclusively to cognizant employees, they cannot withdraw on adhoc basis without informing cognizant.
Hope this helps.
