freelancing while doing job.
« on: March 23, 2016, 04:59:40 AM »
Hi,
I need an advice regarding my part time income idea. Well, I am an engineer and doing job in a company. So they already deduct TDS from my salary.
Now I am planning to sell my own work online and i have also created a paypal account and linked that to my saving bank account (pan no. did not mentioned in this saving account), So can I now withdraw money from paypal to my saving bank account (without any pan number linked) ?
Will my company accountant know about my this income or any kind of problem I'll be facing ?

Thanks

Dual employment in any nature is not legal.
Check this blog post on this -

Since you are planning to sell your work (though the nature of work is not mentioned) and earn money through paypal, the income will remain documented and you won't be able to deny it.

However, if an engineer employed by a company plans to sell his painting online or writes and makes money through travel blog i.e. both nature of work are independent and not related to each other, then there is some chance. But you will not be able to hide your income from both sources.

I am not very sure, but I think paypal requires pan card and even the money will be directly transferred to your bank account which requires PAN compulsorily. Hence, income will be trackable.
