Credit card stolen; am trying to understand my options
« on: May 30, 2016, 11:51:30 AM »
Hello all. I am hoping to get some advise. 12 years ago I had a credit card with ICICI bank. I used it only occasionally and so, I didn't realize I had lost the card until I started receiving collection calls. This was back in 2004.

At that time, I was told to file an FIR and take that to the bank and get the account closed. The bank said I need to settle at least some money before I can get it closed. Long story short, I paid 10,000 rupees, this in 2007. Balance pending was 28,000 rupees. They said all is settled and gave me a letter. I don't have this letter anymore

Now 10 years later they started calling me back again saying I need to pay them 28,000 or else they will book a cibil case on me.
In these past years, I moved from India and am no longer an Indian citizen. They are saying they will seize my Canadian passport at the airport, that they will go to all my relatives place and harass them etc wtc

I told them I will pay 10,000 again but they are not agreeing. They call me mid night for this.

What are my options? Please guide me. Am lost as to what to do

there is nothing they can do against you, as par law.
You have made Rs 10,000/- as settlement amount  so what you don't have the receipt, but the bank must have it.

Bank waking up after 10 years is a long time. law does not help those who sleep and slamber.

By the way they cannot seize your passport, relax let them bark.

these banks use these dead accounts to hide their taxes from RBI, that is why closing an account is an uphill task.

they are contacting you to show RBI that you are active hence using you and millions of others like you for their tricks with RBI.

they are not going to court be sure, they will not risk getting their RBI-bank scam busted
