Domestic Helper Wrecks Car
« on: November 05, 2016, 01:14:59 PM »

I am writing this on behalf of my family members who are stuck in a tricky situation.

We have a domestic helper in our house (15 years old boy) who had been test driving our top end Honda car under the pretense of washing/cleaning of the same.

About 3 days back, he crashed the car in a pole. On way, he also caused damage to the building in which we live. Now the car is beyond repair and the owner of the building demands compensation.

Obviously, all of this came as a shock since we never imagined that the domestic helper would be doing all of this.

Is there a way out for my family members.

It is obvious that your car has caused damaged to that person who is claiming compensation. Under this situation, you are liable to pay as the boy is minor and definitely he has no license. In spite of having knowledge of same you still allows that boy to take the car for wash. In the root of the incidence, I am seeing fault is on your part first.

Now, to get escape from this situation, either you have to lodge complaint against that boy or you have to twist the situation legally.

Above suggestion is being given considering that no FIR or MV Case has been lodged.

Dear Friend,

Since the age of the boy is only fifteen years as such not entitled for any compensation since he cannot hold any valid driving license.
