Severe mental harassment at workplace
« on: November 21, 2016, 10:42:45 AM »
Dear Sir/madam,
I am working lady, had been working with MNC pvt bank in senior reporting manager and his boss are mentally harassing me and constantly asking for me to resign from the job.i hail from very middle class family and had opted for a rs.3.5 lacs loan from the same bank in order to bear my post grad fees from manipal university.which i am repaying every month.however during my admission in the bank's po program. i had signed a bond to serve the bank for a tenure of 4 years, failing which i have to repay the remaining loan amount to them on an immediate basis along with a penalty of RS. 1.8 lacs. on the contrary, if i serve 4 yrs in the bank, as per the bond, they will reimburse 2.85 lacs to me. Now my bosses know these things and hence they are harassing me and made all the attempts to get my resignation.every time i am being insulted and forced to attend even on weekends and holidays.even after biding by all their corrupted terms and conditions(like late night sitting thereby jeopardizing my safety while returning home). things have gotten worse day by day and even repeated requests to furnish resignation, they had put me on ''PIP''. their main motif is to terminate me so that i ll have to pay the loan + penalty and thus they wil save the bank from Rs.2.85 Lac as per the agreed return amount in the bond(if i complete 4 yrs service).i am completely broken and distressed by this action. reporting the same to hr and requesting for transfer has fallen on deaf ears.i am feeling cheated and mentally abused of all my rights.

please help and guide.

Sorry to hear your state of affair.

Please note that proving mental harassment (against anyone) is a difficult job. Try to document (in whatever means) the events in the best possible way. You are not supposed to work beyond your working hours. If they are asking you (only verbally) to work beyond working hours, refuse them in writing (official email) so that it remains documented.

Bonds are generally not valid in India and cannot be used to retain you in a particular job. Only the additional amount spent on you for extra training can be recovered through this bond and nothing more. However, it is mandatory to go through the contents of the bond before further advice.

Act smartly. If you put your resignation then your case will weaken.

As long as the harassment is mental then remedy is difficult as it is hard to prove; but if such harassment takes shape of sexual harassment or physical then there are plenty of scope for you.
