Hi, I am a citizen of Russian Federation. In the last year, I have married an Indian citizen ( hindu) .We have already marriage registration certificate from Russian Civil Authority. Now, We are going to be settled permanently in India.
So, do we need to do again legal marriage from Indian court by special marriage act law ? Or , our certificate from Russian Authority is valid after doing apostille ?
Please help me to know what will be the next procedure for us to make our marriage legal in India. and what documents do we need ?
Thanks in Advance

Dear Ma'am,

You don't have to perform another marriage in India. The marriage celebrated and registered Russia is valid across the world.

No need to marry twice. Marriage Certificate issued from Russia is valid through out the world.

Hi,
I have a similar question. I'm planning to get married to a German national and wherever I enquire about the true procedure... I've always ended up with more confusion than clarity.
Here are a few concerns that would help us both.
1. Do we have to get married in both the places for it to be legal.

2. Does the "Arya samaj" process help in any way?

3. There seems to be a rule, that the foreign national "has to" reside in India for 30 days during the notification procedure for the sub-registrar of marriages and prove it with an official document.

I'm a 43 year old Indian citizen (legally divorced once), and she is a 36 year old German citizen (never married).

Please share your advice about a clear way to navigate this confusing situation.

I would really appreciate your advice at the earliest.

Viki
